This 1968 Stutz Bearcat Recreation is that of an original 1914 Bearcat, built for the 1970’s TV action-drama Bearcats!
This car is a genuine TV star – the latest in a long line of custom cars built for TV.
It is one of only three custom-built by George Barris. Furthermore, each are working models that are exactly alike.
Virtually of Barris’ automobile talent and labour has been directed at this beautiful recreation. Many hours of research were involved in recreating the vehicle depicting the 1914 Stutz Bearcat.
Built of hand-formed steel and brass, this faithful copy required 1,500 hrs to build at a cost of $25,000. Numerous authentic components were measured and carefully reproduced for accuracy.
Powered by a Ford 272 six-cylinder engine and with a three-speed automatic transmission, it comes equipped with both front and rear prop Gatling machine guns as installed by the Barris custom shop. It also features brass radiator and lights and wood-spoke wheels. In yellow with black and maroon stripes, with matching maroon leather buckets seats.
This 1968 Stutz Bearcat Recreation is a charming piece of American and television history.
